Specimen Management Associate 2

Job Summary:

The Specimen Management Associate 2 is responsible for the receipt, accessioning, storage, shipment, and inventory management of clinical specimens. This role supports operational excellence through accurate sample handling, troubleshooting routine issues, and guiding entry-level team members on departmental procedures.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Accession, label, sort, store, and ship clinical specimens accurately and efficiently
• Maintain freezer systems, specimen inventories, and storage records
• Identify potential issues with specimens or processes and escalate concerns when appropriate
• Guide entry-level staff on routine procedures and support onboarding activities
• Respond to after-hours alarms and other critical operational requirements as needed
• Support safety, quality, and 6S initiatives within the laboratory environment
• Monitor supplies and communicate shortages to the appropriate stakeholders
• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely communication with cross-functional teams
  

What We Are Looking For:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; some CAP/CLIA laboratory locations may require a Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology
• 6 months of related experience preferred
• Basic computer skills and the ability to work with internal systems and procedures
• Knowledge of specimen accessioning, inventory management, storage, and shipment processes
• Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

• Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when handling biological samples
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients
• Good working knowledge of relevant laboratory and specimen management procedures
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  

Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints). Physical demands vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $35,900.00 - $74,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
