Legal Specialist

Overview

IQVIA is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Legal Specialist to support the negotiation and administration of customer agreements within our global laboratory business. This role offers the opportunity to work with international stakeholders across Europe, America and Asia, supporting a wide range of complex contractual activities while partnering closely with legal, commercial, finance, and operational teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing customer contracts while ensuring alignment with IQVIA policies, legal requirements, and business objectives. This position requires strong contract negotiation expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment where flexibility, curiosity, and problem-solving are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Drafting & Negotiation

  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a broad range of laboratory customer agreements, including Master Service Agreements, amendments, confidentiality agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Independently negotiate legal and operational contract terms while identifying matters requiring senior attorney review or escalation.
  • Prepare signature-ready execution copies and support the full contract lifecycle from initiation through execution.
  • Conduct follow-up discussions with customers regarding draft and finalized agreements to ensure timely completion of negotiations.

Contract Management & Compliance

  • Manage contract tracking and reporting through internal contract management systems.
  • Maintain complete and accurate contract files and documentation.
  • Review agreements for compliance with current contracting standards, policies, and approved fallback language.
  • Produce contract status reports, including tracking agreements approaching expiration or renewal periods.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Serve as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for assigned customers.
  • Partner with Sales, Business Operations, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and contractual implications.
  • Collaborate with internal legal counsel and external customer representatives, including senior management and legal advisors.
  • Support customer satisfaction by facilitating efficient and professional contracting processes.

Legal Research & Process Improvement

  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to contractual matters and business requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of departmental procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in global legal negotiation teams to drive consistency, quality, and process excellence.
  • Support departmental initiatives aligned with business growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction objectives.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certification or comparable legal qualification preferred.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management, contract negotiation, paralegal services, commercial legal operations, or a related legal function.
  • Experience reviewing, negotiating, and drafting complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience working directly with legal counsel and cross-functional business teams.
  • Previous experience within a corporate legal department, life sciences, healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, CRO, or professional services environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience gained either within an in-house legal team or private legal practice will be considered.

  • Strong understanding of contract law principles and commercial contracting practices.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contractual language beyond standardized templates and forms.
  • Knowledge of legal research methodologies and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable utilizing digital tools and AI-enabled technologies to improve productivity and efficiency.
